Just a short note. So I walk in and the lady is eating but has to jump up and serve me. Cool. All I want is 2 1/2 moon. But I feel bad for disturbing her late lunch. So I tip her. And she then gave me? Shrimp wontons? I DK what they were but tasted good. I guess it was late and she figured good customer relations. Better to give away than end up as wasted. They were pretty Ono. Back to original comment one of the places that still serve 1/2 moon dim sum!!

Long time Dim Sum and Take Out Chinese Food Restaurant. Small corner shop specializes in Dim Sum, comfort Chinese food, and Roasted Meats. They make an exceptional Gon Lo Mein and Beef Chowfun. Most orders are take out, but they do have a couple of tables inside if you're lucky enough to get one. Otherwise there's always the food court seating.

This review is strictly based on my single visit for char siu manapuas. I had a hankering for a good manapua and found this gem by Don Quixote. I tried both the steamed and baked char siu manapua and they were both lovely. Between the two, I thought the steamed manapua was much more enjoyable. I will say there wasn't a lot of filling, but I was satisfied. Also, the char siu was a bit sweeter than I would've preferred. Still, a solid option for manapua and char siu fans. Fairly priced. The real star of this local business was the woman who helped me inside. I regret not having gotten her name but she was sweet and kind. She helped me navigate through my choices and was very patient.

Favorite place to get manapua nowadays. I guess I never knew about this place growing up because it's located in town near the Don Quixote which I've never had to go to back in the day. I've only discovered this place within the last 5 yrs or so because we stay in Waikiki and it's just a 15- 20 min walk from whatever hotel we stay at. The manapua is so soft and steamy when we purchase it. We also get the Jin dui which comes in 3 flavors, char siu, black bean and coconut. I think the black bean is most popular. I've only been able to get it if I've gone earlier in the day. Sometimes the coconut or char siu are the only ones left, which are my favorite. These Jin dui are big too, not like the tiny ones you get in Chinese restaurants. I've also had some of the pastries filled with curry or char siu, those re some.of.my favorites as well. So flaky. They offer other dimsum, and plate lunches too. Workers are very fast and efficient. Especially when there is a line in the morning. You'd better know what you want when you get up there. It's pretty much all takeout because there is no seating indoors, but you can eat at the tables outside where all other diners go. First time I've ever gotten a box of manapua and looks like it will pack well for a plane ride home.

This place has it all! Grouchy worker lady opening the doors late (and looking mighty irritated at the people waiting outside!). 15+ minute waiting (and still getting the order wrong and looking like YOU are the problem). What sounds like massive fighting in the back and Google translate failing to figure out what they are talking about..... Waiting people commenting on who's going to get their order the fastest cause it's taking so long. BUT THE FOOD! I think it's the best tasting steamed manapua that I have tried. I mean, it is REALLY GOOD. The pork hash is the BEST to me. It is pretty much perfect. It's the perfect size to dip in the shoyu/mustard and their shoyu/mustard mix is perfect. Until I eat a better steamed manapua and pork hash, this place is it. Consider the rest of the experience.... an experience you get for FREE!
